                     Giving Cameroon

                            opportunities

                         to thrive.

HOCMI was founded with the passion to serve those in need. The HIV pandemic, gender inequality, and war have torn apart the once thriving communities in Cameroon. They are, now more than ever, in need of opportunities to rise above the suffering and rebuild.

Through our projects in sustainable agriculture, advocacy and education for women, vocational training, and investment programs for the community, we are giving them the chance to work for a better future.

Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Project

FINDING SOLUTIONS TO

AGRICULTURAL CHALLENGES

Many of the villagers in Cameroon rely on subsistence farming for their livelihoods. The women do much of this farming; they walk for miles to sow their land. But their crops are in threat from animals and birds that get to them first. Along with the Ministry of Agriculture, our project will teach these women how to protect their crops in a sustainable way, without harming the wildlife, allowing them to double their food supply and sell their excess crops to neighbors, bringing them financial stability and prosperity.

Gender Equality and Legal Support for Women

FIGHTING FOR THE RIGHTS OF WOMEN AND GIRLS

Because of outdated traditions and customs in the region, many widows are driven away from their children and homes often to the street into dangerous situations because of their husbands relatives. We want to teach them that they have the right to own land, to have and grow a business, and to support themselves. We do this through both educational workshops as well as financial training so that these women and their children may hope to regain their independence and lives for themselves.

Vocational Training

CREATING OPPORTUNITIES BY EDUCATION AND TRAINING

We are giving youth opportunities to thrive and produce through specialized training in a numerous variety of works including computer competency, sewing, woodworking, and more. We provide workshops, classes, and education through local partnerships to increase productivity and guarantee decent work for all.

Investment Initiatives

SMART INVESTING FOR THE FUTURE

Our goal is to promote sustainable economic growth for Cameroon and our strategy is through small investments that can give business owners the push they need to create new businesses for the community. With our partners, we aim to bring economic prosperity to the region by fostering commerce, not just aid. Contact us to learn more about how you can get involved.

The conflict in Cameroon left several people with amputation related disabilities in the Anglophone community. After the trauma of limb-loss people need prosthetic care to transform their lives. Rehabilitation to amputation related disabilities will be given to the affected community members to remain or return to their homes or communities to live independently and participate in education, the labor market, and civic life. This does not only provide physical function but also promotes self-esteem and economic productivity, health and overall quality of life.
